UPDATE (10-1-2003): I have cleaned the car and got all my stuff out. I took pictures of the cleaned interior to show how the car looks inside (sorry for taking them in the dark, but I wanted to get them online as fast as possible).
I've also looked up a link that I found very helpfull when I bought this car. At www.carreview.com you can read reviews written by current and past owners of Montero SUVs (all models and model years). There are about 95 Montero reviews total, some also for this specific model year (1989). Check it out to get an idea of weaknesses as well as strengths of this car. The overall average of the Montero is a 4.3 out of five, which is quite high. You can also use this site to do research on other cars - worth checking out.
Concerning the windshield I informed myself about the costs of getting a replacment. I found multiple used ones from several yunk yards in Washington state. The prices are all between $80 and $100. I haven't gotten a chance to check on the actual installation cost of a windshield but will do so if I get to it.

UPDATE (9-29-2003): The windshield has a crack. This was not the case at the time of listing but happened when I was driving behind a truck. A piece of gravel was thrown up towards me on the 27th. Please see the pictures for details. This crack is growing, however, will not make the windshield break (since it is saftey glass) or hinder the driver from seeing (since it is on the passanger side). I will understand any bid retraction due to this reason. I want that the bidder is fully informed as well as satisfied with his buy therefore I am trying to keep you guys updated. Please ask if you have questions or concerns.

You are bidding on a 1989 Mitsubishi Montero. I drove this car across country on a road trip with the intention to sell it here in Seattle and fly back. The car is in good condition (much better than the pictures show) and comes with quite a few little extras. When I purchased the car there was only two spots with rust. As shown on the pictures I removed the rust but didn't have enough time to finish fixing it before my depature. The car is free of any rust other then minor surface rust on unpainted parts; which can be found on any new car (check the pictures). This Montero has a 3.0l V6 engine which gets a good gas milage of about 19 m/gal (that's with the roof rack). The car is very reliable and everything works. I drove this car in cold (20 degree) as well as in hot weather (95 degree) and it never let me down in any way. The car has been driven 10k miles in the last 4 months (mostly long distance driving). It uses very little oil (only about one gallon in 10k miles). Before I left I had the injection system cleaned and completly hauled over. The car also has a new air filter and a new differential oil change. The starter is also a brand new lifetime warranty starter. The alternator is very strong and delivers power like a new one.
